So just like that, it’s summer time. My kids are out of school in just a few short days. The weather is heating up, actually quicker than I would have liked but what can you do. That is what happens in Arizona.
With that we are almost in full swing summer mode, my kids have been dying to go swimming. I still think it’s way too cold but they don’t care. The sweaters and scarfs have been packed away and we are now in full flip flops and shorts attire.
My spring door hanging was still hanging up and every time I walked through the front door, I kept thinking I need to do something “summer-y”
I grabbed a wreath at Hobby Lobby with some hot pink ribbon. I bought the flat wreath, I thought it would probably be easier to put the flip flops on to something flat.
I wrapped the ribbon around the wreath, making sure to pull tight. I think it took me about 2 1/2 rolls of ribbon.
Next I laid the flip flops how I wanted them and hot glued them to the wreath. I cut up an old lei we had to use the flowers. I just mix all the color combinations and hot glued them on as well. There are four flowers on each flip flop. Two of each color.
Next I tied some extra pink ribbon to hang the wreath and glued some more flowers at the top so it wouldn’t just be a normal knot at the top.
I definitely think it screams Summer! It’s so bright and cheery. Looking back I wish I would have put a little smaller flowers or bigger flips flops on the wreath, just so you would be able to see the tops of them. But it is what it is.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer!!
