A while back my sister had a little crafty party- she asked us to bring all of our old jewelry pieces that were either broken or missing or falling apart. When we got there she showed us these adorable collage canvas crafts. There were a ton in different shapes you could choose from, she of course did one in a high heel shape. I chose to do a cross. This was before I had my blog so I am sorry I don't have any step by step pictures of this. But the cross below is one of my favorite things I have ever done. I just think it's a wrap of memories of old jewelry and pieces that otherwise would sit at the bottom of a drawer and collect dust. My sister just happened to have a scrabble tile with a H and the 4 on it which is just perfect for our family and probably my favorite piece.
Not too long after I wanted to do another (again before my blog) and I did with a collage of sea glass. This is just a wood letter H and I just hot glued and filled in all the pieces.
So when I found these cute little sand dollar baskets at Hobby Lobby I knew I had to do another collage. I wanted to incorporate them into our Master Bedroom/Retreat/Beach Themed Getaway Room. It's going to be called that until, well, I find a more suiting name.
I picked up a canvas print at Hobby Lobby as well. You have so many uses for these and they are pretty cheap.
I painted the canvas print with a light blue. The paint really soaks in and you usually only need 1 coat.
I printed out a heart shape from the Internet to use as a stencil.
I took a pencil and outlined my heart shape.
And then I started to glue. Each little sand dollar. I started around the outside first and then filled in the inside.
Once I was done I touched up around where the pencil marking was and removed the glue strings.
It came out pretty good and I think it'll make a great addition to our room. I like doing mini projects like this- they are quick and easy
