Hunter’s room- my little baseball player has been a project in the making. He turns 10 this year which to me is upsetting because he is my baby. Babies are not 10 years old. I officially don’t have a little one anymore. He is starting to mature so it was only natural that his bedroom mature with him. When I say Hunter is my baseball player, I mean we are at baseball practice about 3 times a week, tournaments on the weekends, baseball on the TV…. Oh my goodness. So of course his room should have one or two baseballs in it.
I switched out the bedding last year, painted his walls from blue to grey and hung his gallery wall. I still have just a few minor touches left but his room is almost complete. I wanted to make a sign for his room to go above his dresser. It needed to be a baseball quote and it needed to have something to do with the Yankees.
I bought a piece of wood at Home Depot. They have lots of different size sheets to choose from. In addition I bought a long piece of border wood and had the nice guy at Home Depot cut it for me to frame the wood. If you bat your eye lashes at the Home Depot guy, he cuts what you need. Plus he doesn’t complain like your husband would if you asked him to do it.
I painted the wood sheet with white paint and used the Cricut to print out the saying I wanted. After I measured and placed the lettering where I wanted, I stained the border wood. When that was dry, we glued it to the wood sheet. The border really added a finished look to the sign. I like it much better with the border. It was such an easy project and really didn’t cost much. I think I did the entire sign for under $10.
It looks great for Hunter’s room not because the sign itself looks good in there but also the meaning behind what it says. My son is a Yankee at heart and Joe DiMaggio couldn’t have said it better-
