How to Clean Bottom of Shoes
Whether you need to return a pair of shoes or you just want to clean them up, there are a variety of ways to clean your shoe bottom.
Here are a few different methods…
Mix Baking Soda and Detergent
Before you use baking soda or detergent, you’ll want to clean any loose debris from the shoe.
You can do this by slapping the shoes together or slamming them on the concrete. Any leftover debris can be removed with a toothbrush or a washcloth.
While debris will be cleared, there may still be a stain left on the bottom of the shoe. So, you’ll want to create your baking soda and detergent solution.
Start by adding two tablespoons of your favorite laundry detergent to a bowl. Add one tablespoon of your baking soda. Next, you’ll want to slowly start adding your water, as the texture can easily become too watery.
Add water drop-by-drop until you have a thick paste. Dip your old toothbrush in the solution and begin scrubbing any stains. Repeat this step as many times as necessary until the stains are gone.
Use Warm Water and Dishwashing Powder
If you don’t have baking soda or laundry detergent to spare, you can also use warm water and dish powder.
Just as you did in the previous method, you’ll want to remove debris before applying the solution. Once loose debris is gone, add lukewarm water to a bucket or tub. You’ll only need enough water for the sole of the shoe to be covered.
Add about two tablespoons of the dishwashing solution. Mix the water and powder until evenly mixed.
Place the shoes in the tub and soak for no less than 15 minutes. Wipe the soles with a washcloth and soak for another 15 minutes if stains are lingering.
