Garden

The UK is currently in an odd heatwave. With a mixture of blinding sunlight and downpours of rain, your garden might not be in the best shape. That’s quite unfortunate if you are looking to use it throughout your summer to host garden parties, BBQs or romantic dates. But, fear not, now that winter is officially over (for the time being), it’s time for you to “dig out” your garden tools and get to work on your own little piece of countryside. Here are some tips on how you can spruce up your garden for summer.

Tidy up your garden

Why would anyone want to go into your garden if it looks like a mess? You could have a hot date with one of the beautiful Romford escorts, but she still wouldn’t want to go into your garden if it ends up looking like a jungle. So, it’s time to give your garden some well-needed maintenance:

Weeding

You would be surprised how many dandelions end up popping up on your lawn if you don’t end up tidying them up. Letting them take root can mean that your grass is in for a weed invasion. So, make sure to pull out them out before they pop up everywhere on your lawn!

Mowing

The best way to get rid of those pesky weeds, and sort out the overall appearance of your lawn is to just mow it. There’s nothing nicer than smelling a freshly cut lawn. Just make sure to get rid of the clippings in an eco-friendly manner. You can also sprinkle the grass with seeds and water it regularly in order to help it grow. You may also want to consider picking up any little that is plaguing your garden.

Decking/Patio

Unfortunately, weeds and moss can also take root on your decking and paving stones. That’s why it’s time to either sand them or use staining paint in order to get the weeds out. You may also want to consider using a jet washer. The high powered blast of water is the perfect thing if you are looking to clean up any stains that have been left by the weather, animals or guests.

Add some planters

Now that your general maintenance has been taken care of, it’s time for you to consider how you want to design your garden. Some people want to use their garden to entertain, others just want a place where they can relax away from the world. Basically, it all comes down to your own personal preference, but you need to consider the general layout of your garden. Adding some planters will give you the opportunity to plant some new flowers and foliage in your garden. But remember to consider how you want them to be spaced around the area.

Try and plan where exactly where you want your social space to be and where you would be happy to have an area that is more “green”, aka. somewhere where you can put flowers, grass, small trees or maybe even a pond. The more detail you have, the more likely you will love the end result of your garden.

Pick out summer plants!

If you want to end up with a gorgeous garden then you’re going to need some summer plants that can withstand the heat and add a little colour to your yard. The more sturdy your plants are to the heat, the more likely that they will thrive in the season. Here are some of the favourite flowers for the season that will make your garden look amazing:

Amaranthus

Spider Flowers

Lily of the Nile

Sulfur/Cosmos

Gazania Hybrids

Lantana

Petunias

Cone Flowers

Common Zinnias

Marigolds

Hydrangeas

Just remember to plant these flowers in the places that will get the most sunlight in your garden. You need to make sure that they have enough space to grow. If you need to use ties to make sure they stay upright, as some plants to grow too heavy for their own good and droop, then you can tie them to your fence or a plant stabilizer.

Patio choices

If you want to spruce up your patio, you may want to consider installing decking. This is a great way of distinguishing where your social area is in your garden. It will also give you the opportunity to buy some nice furniture and place them around the area. If you already have a decking, make sure to keep it clean and tidy. You may also want to invest in some stainer to ensure it retains its original colour. The weather can really give your decking a beating, so the stainer can make sure that it remains protected and looks like it is in tip-top condition.

Solar Lights

Forget about using battery-powered lights to bring your garden to life. Solar panels are a great way of saving energy and making your garden look amazing. Why, you may ask, well, it’s because the solar panels are in the shape of different creatures, flowers, hanging lights or even different colours. They can add a delicate hue to your garden and make it light up during those warm summer evenings. That means that you and your friends can relax outside in the soft lighting for as long as you like.

Social Furniture

If you want to use your garden for social gatherings, make sure to pick furniture that suits the mood. Whilst you may want to indulge in fabrics for chairs and loungers, just keep in mind that you will need to keep them sheltered if it rains. Try to stick to non-absorbant materials that you can lounge on or maybe even a sun umbrella to make sure you can dine outside even in the murkiest weather. Some people even choose to hang lights around the inside of their tent to have their meals. Better yet, you can even invest in a Chimenea to warm you all up once the night takes hold of your event.
